We stayed at this place for one night and we were really impressed. The room was clean and bright, with comfortable beds and good wifi. The staff were friendly and helpful, accommodating our request to have our group all in one room. The location is great, on a quiet street with easy access to anywhere around the city. There is a nice park directly across the road and a bus stop nearby. We also liked the fact that there was free wi-fi and a car park available. this place provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
We would definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.

Stayed at the Dorset Apartments. Really quaint building and a lovely little apartment. Very well equipped generally. Liked the location and the cuteness of the apartment.
Nothing really - would have appreciated a hair dryer.

Excellent location and facilities. The kitchen is large and super clean. Reception staff welcoming. Building secure and well appointed. Good mix of laid back residents, not a party house but lots of very interesting and experienced travellers including families. A good place to start from, to pick up tips about where to go, how to buy a car, how to deal with working visas etc. Nice parkside location but location shops are pricey - use the free yellow bus to buy your groceries.
Some reviewers have complained about the out of hours check in system but I found it very simple and secure. You will receive an email with door codes and instructions, this is all you need to access the hostel out of hours. So, no negatives at all really!

Stayed at Dorset House for 4 nights on my backpacking trip. The room was small but clean and comfy. Loved the convenient location, just a short walk from the city center and a bus stop to the airport. Reception had plenty of helpful city info. The staff were welcoming and even let us check in early after a long flight. The park nearby was a beautiful spot to relax. a great experience!
Would recommend this hotel.

Well stocked self-contained apartment. The spices and seasoning provided very helpful for simple cooking.
Rooms are a bit cold as the heaters provided are quite small and takes a while to heat up the rooms. Car parking area and access are rather narrow making parking a challenge.

We had a great stay at a backpacker hostel in a convenient location. The rooms were comfortable and towels were provided. The kitchen was well-stocked and the bathrooms were clean. We especially enjoyed the gas heated showers on the ground floor. The lounge area was cozy and the outside patio was nice. Despite a few minor issues, we would definitely recommend this hostel. we had a pleasant experience.

I had an amazing stay at this lovely hostel in the heart of town. The value for money was fantastic, with a comfortable room and all the necessary amenities. The location was perfect, just a short walk to Hagley Park and the city center. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome.
The breakfast selection could be improved with a wider variety of options.

I did not intend to share rooms (I´m 53 years old), and went for my doughter´s birthday in Queenstown..but they found jobs in Christchurch..so I booked here..and really was lovely..a nice restaurante a block away..the staff really understood I was on my own..and told me were to go...and checked me and my daughter on a really nice trip for the day to Akaroa...thanks..
Well...the price was ok..but I did not want a mix bedroom...but that was the only left..and a little bit hot for me..the rest, perfect

We had a great stay at Dorset House! the lounge room had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, making us feel right at home. the staff was incredibly friendly and always ready to assist us with any questions or requests. the location was perfect, situated near the gardens and Victoria street, away from the hustle and bustle but still convenient. We easily caught the bus 29 from the airport, which stopped near Dorset Street. the facilities were well-maintained, with daily cleaning of the kitchens and clean rooms, toilets, and showers. the beds were comfortable, and we appreciated the eco-friendly initiatives. the security system gave us peace of mind, and parking was a definite plus. our stay was quiet, pleasant, and memorable. Cons: Nothing not to like! .
